Before Booking on to a Referee Course

1. Complete the Online Guide to the Laws of the Game


The Online Guide to the Laws of the Game is a compulsory part of the FA Referee Course and is free of charge.


To access the course, you will need to log in using your existing FA account or create a new one.


Please ensure that the account details are accurate and belong to the learner completing the course.


2. Complete the Required Safeguarding Training


You must complete the relevant online safeguarding training before attending the course.

3. Apply for an FA DBS (if required)


If you plan to officiate in youth football and are aged 16 or over, you must hold a valid, in-date FA DBS check.

4. Read the Course Guide


All learners, and parents or guardians of learners under the age of 18, must read the Course Guide before booking.

5. Parental Consent (Under 18s Only)


All learners under the age of 18 must complete and submit a Parental Consent Form at the time of booking.


6. Book Using Your Own FA Account


All learners must book on to the course using their own FAN and personal details. Please do not use another person's account when registering.
