Friendlies and fixtures during the closed season

THE CLOSE SEASON AND FRIENDLIES/FIXTURES 
 

The close season is between 1st June and 30th June each calendar year. 

 

Sheffield & Hallamshire affiliated grassroots clubs are able to play the following fixtures during the close season without seeking approval from SHCFA; 


Small Sided Friendlies (3 v 3, 4v 4, 5v 5, 6 v 6, 7 v 7, 8 v 8, 9v 9) 

Sanctioned Tournaments/Galas  

 

11v11 Friendlies 

11v11 friendlies during the close season can be played by Sheffield & Hallamshire affiliated clubs subject to approval from Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA.  


All 11v11 friendly fixtures during must be approved, to seek approval Click Here  


 Failure to comply, will lead to a CFA disciplinary investigation and possible charges. 

 

Outside of the closed season clubs are free to play friendlies without seeking approval from SHCFA, subject to both teams being affiliated.

 

Close season and friendlies useful information 

-All fixtures must be played between 2 affiliated teams, new clubs for 23/24 season are not permitted to play friendlies during the close season.  

-Fixtures are subject to the same disciplinary procedures as in season fixtures. 

- For junior teams try to ensure that a break from football is built into the summer for players.
