How To Report a Safeguarding Concern

Created by Tom Measham, Modified on Thu, 25 Jun at 4:31 PM by Lucy Harley

We are committed to ensuring that football in Sheffield and Hallamshire is safe, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.

Every child or young person (under the age of 18) has the right to take part in football in a safe environment and be protected from harm. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

If you are worried about a child or an adult at risk, you must report your concerns. Doing nothing is not an option.

Reporting a Safeguarding Concern

To raise a safeguarding concern, please complete our online safeguarding reporting form.

If you would prefer to speak to someone, please contact a member of our Safeguarding team.

What Does a Safeguarding Concern Look Like?

Examples of safeguarding concerns include:

  • Physical abuse
  • Emotional abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Neglect
  • Bullying

If there is an immediate risk of harm or an emergency, call 999.

You can also contact the NSPCC 24-hour helpline on 0808 800 5000 for advice and support.

What Is Poor Practice?

Some concerns may relate to poor practice rather than abuse. Examples include:

  • Parents swearing at players
  • A coach or manager being abusive towards a referee, players or parents
  • A manager not holding a valid DBS certificate

If you are concerned about poor practice, please speak to your Club Welfare Officer in the first instance.

If you do not feel comfortable speaking to your Club Welfare Officer, or you feel your concern is not being dealt with appropriately, please contact us at Support@SheffieldFA.com.
