What are the mandatory safeguarding requirements?

There are a range of 'mandatory' qualifications required for club officials. These are in place to ensure that clubs provide a safe, fun and inclusive environment for it's members. 


Safeguarding requirement for clubs with youth teams


Welfare Officer for clubs with 'Youth Teams' are required to have the following qualifications. In-date FA DBS Check; In-date former face-to-face Safeguarding Children Workshop or the new online Safeguarding Children CourseWelfare Officer Workshop (or virtual classroom Welfare Officer Course);


At club level the Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and CWO are required to have completed the free online Safeguarding for Committee Members (SCM) course.


Coaches, Managers and assistants in under-18 teams are required to have an in-date FA DBS check and  Safeguarding Children Course 



Safeguarding requirements for clubs with open age teams


A welfare officer for a club with open aged teams is required to hold a in-date FA DBS Check and the Player Welfare Course.


All Coaches and managers must hold the Player Welfare Course


Coaches, Managers and assistants of open aged teams that have U18 players are required to have an in-date FA DBS Check
