There are a range of 'mandatory' qualifications required for club officials. These are in place to ensure that clubs provide a safe, fun and inclusive environment for it's members. It is important to begin work on these immediately upon creation of the club as failure to meet the mandatory requirements will prevent your teams from affiliating.
For clubs with junior teams
Welfare Officer for clubs with 'Youth Teams' are required to have the following qualifications. In-date FA DBS Check; In-date former face-to-face Safeguarding Children Workshop or the new online Safeguarding Children Course, Welfare Officer Workshop (or virtual classroom Welfare Officer Course);
At club level the Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and CWO are required to have completed the free online Safeguarding for Committee Members (SCM) course.
Coaches, Managers and assistants in under-18 teams are required to have an in-date FA DBS check and Safeguarding Children Course
For clubs with open aged teams
A welfare officer for a club with open aged teams is required to hold a in-date FA DBS Check and the Player Welfare Course.
Coaches, Managers and assistants of open aged teams that have U18 players are required to have an in-date FA DBS Check, we also recommend Safeguarding Adults Course
For clubs with open aged disability teams
A welfare officer for a club with disability teams must hold Safeguarding Adults Course if the team has U18 players an in-date FA DBS Check.
