What is discrimination?
Discrimination is treating someone less favourably because of a protected characteristic. Under FA Rules, discriminatory language or behaviour can include incidents relating to:
- Race or ethnic origin
- Nationality
- Religion or belief
- Gender
- Gender reassignment
- Sexual orientation
- Disability
How do I report discrimination?
If you experience or witness discrimination in grassroots football, you can report it in the following ways:
During a match
- Report the incident to the match official as soon as possible.
- Club officials should support those involved and ensure the incident is recorded.
After a match
- Submit a report to The FA using the online discrimination reporting form.
Reporting discrimination on social media
- If you see discriminatory content on social media that is connected to football, this can also be reported through The FA's online reporting form.
Why is reporting important?
By reporting discrimination, you help us:
- Investigate incidents thoroughly.
- Take appropriate disciplinary action where necessary.
- Support those affected.
- Create a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone involved in football.
- Reporting discrimination protects our game and helps ensure there is no place for hate in grassroots football.
