Club Insurance: Public Liability and Personal Accident Cover

Clubs can purchase both Public Liability Insurance and Personal Accident Insurance through our official insurance provider, Sportsguard, as part of the affiliation process.

Personal Accident Insurance

A range of Personal Accident Insurance packages is available, allowing clubs to select the level of cover that best suits their players.

When choosing your cover, it's important to consider your players' circumstances, particularly if you have self-employed players within your team.

Why Consider Higher Temporary Total Disability (TTD) Cover?

If a player is unable to work due to an injury sustained while playing football, a higher TTD benefit can:

  • Help replace lost income during recovery.
  • Provide peace of mind for players and their families.
  • Demonstrate your club's commitment to player welfare.
  • Help attract and retain players.

While no club wants to pay for cover it doesn't need, many clubs find that players are happy to contribute a small amount extra to ensure they have greater protection should the worst happen.

Please see the attached brochure for full details of this year's cover options.

Public Liability Insurance

Sportsguard Public Liability Insurance is available for £30.

Please see the attached brochure for full details of the cover provided.

Why Purchase Insurance Through SHCFA?

Purchasing your insurance through Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA allows your affiliation to be processed automatically, meaning it can be approved more quickly without requiring manual checks by County FA staff.

Can We Purchase Our Own Insurance?

Yes. You can still arrange your own insurance and upload proof of cover through the Club Portal.

However, affiliations with independently sourced insurance cannot be processed automatically and will require manual review by County FA staff.

Please ensure any insurance you purchase independently provides cover that is equal to or better than the entry-level insurance offered by SHCFA.
